Large Commercial Sectional Garage
The Liftmaster J or H one is ideal for the large commercial sectional door.
Both are equipped with the MyQ automated opener control with the soft start/stop function.
With the Liftmaster Jackshaft opener, you get ⅓, ½, ¾, and one horsepower.
The suitable horsepower motor needed is based on the total square footage of the door. The Liftmaster Hoist Opener is also available with the same horsepower as the H model and is based on the total square footage of the door.
Another exceptional option is the Liftmaster MJ, but it has limitations you must consider.
The commercial door opener does not have the MyQ to control automated operation through your smart devices.
Neither is the MJ equipped with the soft start/stop function that can create concerns in the future.
Chain stretch is a huge concern when activating the door open/close as the motor pulls or pushes with full force throughout the cycle.
Thus, it causes premature chain stretch and can bend the spring bar, causing damage to the sprocket with time and regular use.

Other Commercial Garage Door Opener Options
B&W Garage Doors has another option for large doors, the Liftmaster ATS.
The ceiling-mounted model works with a rail system but only on a standard lift sectional door.
The model is a light-duty garage door opener, but we recommend the Liftmaster Jackshaft or Hoist type for commercial doors with a full vertical or high lift.
A ceiling-mounted opener working with a rail will not lift the door high enough; the same applies to vertical doors.
While other commercial door openers are available, the information above should point you in the right direction for the type of opener you need. To determine the best model, it helps estimate how often the door will open and close during the day.
